Why We Are Renovating

Hi, well we are still working on renovating the house. Sorry no pictures yet. We have found out we need to re-wire the whole house and re-do all of the plumbing. We will want to re-work the stairs to the basement too. Lot's of work but will be well worth it in the long run.
I don't know if I am repeating myself, but this is some of the reasons we are renovating beside that the house really needs it.
We are working on renovating my husbands family 1959 ranch home in Winston-Salem, North Carolina and am in search for anything with a reference to French design. We are going to decorate it for use for our family to stay when visiting and for a guest house for others to stay when visiting this beautiful part of the country. We are half-way between the NC mountains and the Atlantic coast and beautiful beaches of NC.
We will be updating this blog pretty soon thank you for your checking us out.
Does anyone have any suggestions on French Country design resources? I would love to have additional input.
Thank you,
Teresa

  1. Oh, I love French Country style. One of my favorite books is called Great French Country style. You can find it at Lowes, on Amazon or other book stores.

Anyway, yes, I did use my sprayer to paint my chairs. I have an HVLP by Graco, which is about $1000, so it's really only worth the investment if you're painting furniture professionally. The only suggestion I have is to make sure you get one that has air in the lines, not paint. Those are a mess to clean and not great to use for furniture.

  2. Teresa,
Thanks so much for stopping by my blog. I have a 1964 Ranch/Rambler that I'm tackling right now with a vintage chic twist...which includes a little French Country, too. I can't wait to see YOUR home unfold! I agree with MMS, "Great French Country Style" is a great resource.

    Thanks for stopping by,
    Jami

  3. Wow, that sounds like a lot of work and it will bring great rewards. I agree with MMS about the book. It is great to hear from another North Carolinian.
